The Mysterines for three shows in Germany

When The Mysterines brought their dark rock'n'roll to our stages for the first time a year and a half ago, it was an outstanding success. The English newcomers, who were already surprisingly serene back then, impressed with the big sounds from their debut album "Reeling" as well as with the dark fantasies of death and violence that frontwoman Lia Metcalfe expressed in her lyrics. After all, it's not everyone's cup of tea to dig up your loved one after they've died so that you can be close to them. But because these tracks hit the body with full force and the necessary pinch of black humor, The Mysterines received nothing but rave reviews for both the record and their live performances. Now the band from Liverpool has announced their second album "Afraid of Tomorrows" for next June and released the first single "Stray" as a precursor. Metcalfe had already announced in advance that her lyrics would probably no longer be quite as explicit and more open to interpretation on the next album, as her view of things changes over time. In fact, "Afraid of Tomorrows" is a deeper and even darker foray into the psyche than its predecessor and reflects the band's maturity and growth. This also applies to the opening track, which deals with the extreme behaviors of sufferers. Which is also excellently recorded musically: George Favager's menacingly quiet bass line at the beginning, Metcalfe's distorted vocals, Callum Thompson's warning guitar rasp and Paul Crilly's driving beats create exactly the atmosphere the song needs. However, it is also immediately clear that the straight, powerful and always variable rock sound remains dominant. In other words, exactly what makes the Brits so special on stage. And exactly what we can expect from October when The Mysterines come to us on tour.
