A project by the DESLOCAR collective
in co-production with Alter Wartesaal im Bahnhof Herne, Bahnhof Langendreer e.V. and FWT
THE NEW SILICON VALLEY depicts a future in which the human body itself becomes a mine: Bones turn into gold, data is extracted like raw materials. Introduced by the promises of the CEO and the voices of C.MIB's customer service, the audience meets the members of this future society. In their personal accounts, they experience the new technology at first hand. Inspired by the mining history of the Ruhr region, the production combines science fiction with solar punk aesthetics and a touch of techno-feudalism. Sound, choreography and digital performance interweave to create a poetic, dystopian narrative about extractivism, power and resistance. With humor, irony and migrant perspectives, the piece shows the dark side of technological progress - and asks which bodies pay the price for digital utopias.
