The Struggle of Memory - Deutsche Bank Collection / Part 2

In the organizer's words:

The second part of the exhibition The Struggle of Memory questions how memories inscribe themselves in our memory. In the works shown here, traces of history are explored and alternative and even subversive views of the past emerge. Many of the artists* work with the difference between personal and official narrative, addressing the inaccuracies of memory and history. Our attention is drawn to the overlooked, time lapses are recomposed, the humorous and absurd come into play. The importance of language in remembering and resisting is highlighted - and we are encouraged to activate all our senses in experiencing and remembering.

In addition to international loans, the exhibition features works from the Deutsche Bank Collection that have been acquired over the past ten years. The global orientation is also due to the Nigerian curator Okwui Enwezor, who was a member of Deutsche Bank's Global Art Advisory Council and was responsible for the groundbreaking documenta 11.

Artists in the second part include Sammy Baloji, Yto Barrada, Anawana Haloba, Lubaina Himid, Paulo Nazareth, Zohra Opoku, Jo Ractliffe, Dineo Seshee Bopape, Alberta Whittle and Wong Hoy Cheong.
