Thomas Schwebel & Band - 33 Tage in Ketten
In the organizer's words:
*33 Days in Chains*, Fehlfarben’s second studio album, was released in the fall of 1981 after Peter Hein left the band.
Shortly before a planned tour of Germany in the spring of 1981, he had left the band because he couldn’t cope with the pressure to succeed. Guitarist Thomas Schwebel, who had co-written the lyrics with Peter Hein on *Monarchie und Alltag*, ultimately took on the challenging role of frontman. Despite the personnel changes, “33 Tage in Ketten” is in no way inferior to its predecessor, “Monarchie und Alltag.” Both lyrically and musically, the album is the logical and consistent follow-up. It possesses the same emotionally oppressive intensity, and Schwebel is a fantastic guitarist, lyricist, and singer. Unfairly, “33 Tage in Ketten” has remained in the shadow of “Monarchie und Alltag” since its release. The album, with its iconic cover, is a post-punk monolith—hard-hitting, stirring, and yet danceable—an essential album of the West German underground scene of the ’80s.
To mark the re-release of *33 Tage in Ketten*, Thomas Schwebel has put together a band consisting of himself, Peta Devlin, Rick McPhail (formerly of Tocotronic), and Gunther Buskies (Die Liga der gewöhnlichen Gentlemen), and they will perform this classic in its entirety.
