Action, love, goosebumps: The surging brass fanfares from the soundtrack to the classic pirate film *The Sea Hawk* plunge us straight into the adventure. For once, John Williams isn’t featured here with his famous film scores. His imaginative horn concerto, performed by the Munich Philharmonic’s principal horn player, Matías Piñeira, nevertheless manages to conjure up images of vast landscapes, scenes of battle, and nocturnal reveries in the listener’s mind’s eye. And in his ballet music for “Romeo and Juliet,” Sergei Prokofiev brings the drama surrounding the world’s most famous lovers to life. For everyone who wants to experience what cinema sounds like without a screen, but with a real orchestra.
