The city and state are celebrating the 150th birthday of Konrad Adenauer. We go in search of traces in the west of Cologne: whether in the Müngersdorf sports park, the green belt with its rebuilt fortifications or other pioneering projects in Cologne's urban development - Adenauer's impact as Lord Mayor can still be felt in many places in the city today. From 1917 to 1933, the later Federal Chancellor shaped the fate of Cologne like no other city leader. The city still benefits from this today. Adenauer was not only able to think big, he was also able to implement them.The ways in which he achieved his goals were not always conventional. Even in his private life, he proved to be a master of Cologne's cronyism, with which he was able to push through many things to his own advantage. The cycle tour also takes you to places in his private life.In Max-Bruch-Straße, a multi-storey residential building bears witness to his great wealth. The tour also looks at Adenauer's attitude towards National Socialism and German colonialism, the time after he was deposed by the Nazis and his own view of the Nazi dictatorship after he was elected the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1949.
