Verena Guido & Ensemble
"Don't stare so romantically"

Verena Guido puts this quote from Bert Brecht at the beginning of a musical journey into the 1920s and 1930s, between dancing on a volcano and dark ballads. Sometimes fast-paced, sometimes lyrical, the artist and her ensemble bring to life a time full of contrasts, departures into modernity, hope for peace and social progress - in sounds, chansons and songs that offer resistance to the path to the barbarism of National Socialism that emerged early on.

Personal details: The singer and multi-instrumentalist Verena Guido has often created song programs related to the Weimar Republic. She has performed throughout Europe with groups such as the band "Ballhaus". Today, she works primarily as a composer for theater, film and radio and writes music for stage and radio play productions, most recently for Volker Kutscher's Gereon Rath novels, recorded by the WDR Funkhausorchester.
