Since 2020, Julian Knobloch-Krippner, Marlene Knobloch, Lasse Altmark, and Jeremias Otto have been combining their creative talents asVERSACER. Their sound skillfully blends indie pop, ’80s jangle, and modern pop—danceable, contemporary, and inspired by cities like New York and Manchester, even though the four members live scattered across Germany. Their songs are a reflection of the times; they tell stories of social pressure, shaky self-images, and the attitude toward life of a generation caught between Gen Z and Millennials—authentic, sometimes in German, sometimes in English, or something in between.

Having laid a solid foundation in the local pop scene with seven singles, an EP, and their debut album “nothing was gonna happen if I didn’t say anything” (2023, on vinyl) in a nerve-wracking DIY style,VERSACERare ready for the next step: their second album, *VERSACER*, which will be released on September 25, 2025. Afterward, the two siblings and their two friends will go on tour.

With just a few songs,APOLLO ONLINEmakes it clear what the plan is: great guitar work, sing-along hooks, rousing compositions, and transforming the multi-instrumentalist’s one-man show into a powerful band. The North American-German grew up between the Beatles and Beethoven, teaching himself music through Coldplay and Stevie Wonder. It’s almost logical, then, that he’s making the German language cool again, freeing it from its stiffness and awkwardness. Apollo Online does this with an ease reminiscent of Bilderbuch or Wanda, and despite the infectious carefree spirit in his lyrics, his songs possess a gripping depth. He sings about losses and victories, about great love and even greater doubts. To put it in his own words: “Nobody really knows what’s going on/Let’s go for a ride.”
