How is a good DJ set actually created? What does a DJ really do during a performance? And how does a DJ mixer actually work?

This four-hour workshop will give you an exciting insight into the world of DJing and electronic music. Together we'll dive into the basics of DJing - explained in an understandable way and using real equipment.

Topics of the workshop:
- Basics of rhythm, beats & musical structure
- What types of DJing are there?
- Structure and function of a vinyl and digital DJ mixer
- First insights into beatmatching & mixing
- A brief history of electronic dance music and DJ culture

The workshop will be led by Peter Köcke aka p.h.k., who has already played in clubs such as the Schumacher Club - Bochum, Druckluft, Oma Doris and various off-locations in Dortmund's underground scene.

The workshop is aimed at beginners, music enthusiasts and anyone who has always wanted to know how DJing really works.
