Vom Klassenzimmer zum Hörsaal, Radfahrt zum Frauenstudium in Köln
In the organizer's words:
Bicycle Tour - Guided Tour
Please bring your own bike!
From the founding of the Cologne Girls’ High School Association in 1899 to the present day, the path to ensuring equal educational and academic opportunities for girls and women in Cologne has been a rocky one. On this bike tour, we’ll explore the most significant sites in this history and shed light on the key obstacles, struggles, and achievements. How did Ermentrude von Ranke (the first German female historian to earn a habilitation) in the 1920s and Cornelia Harte (Cologne’s first female professor) in 1950 find their way into academia?
From the old university in the Südstadt, we’ll head toward Lindenthal to the new university. Along the way, we’ll visit the places where Cologne’s female pioneers worked and lived, as well as key institutions.
There will be a short coffee break along the way.
Cost: 12 €
