Digital technologies and artificial intelligence are simultaneously enabling the control and management of populations on an unprecedented scale, while tech billionaires publicly dream of replacing democracy with technical apparatuses. How will we be governed in the present and future? In today's episode of WAGNIS WISSEN, we talk to Dr. Anna-Verena Nosthoff about digital technologies, cybernetics and the challenges facing democracy.

Nosthoff is Junior Professor of Ethics of Digitalization at the Institute of Philosophy at Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg and Co-Director of the Critical Data Lab at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin/University of Oldenburg. If you want to understand digitalization, she says, you have to look at its cybernetic origins.
