If you were to describe the quiet indie of Belgian musician Warhaus with three adjectives, they would probably be flirtatious, wistful and bittersweet. Because the songwriter's sound is multi-layered without being overwhelming. Sophisticated easy-listening, you could say, even if the two terms are usually mutually exclusive by nature. It was only in 2016 that Maarten Devoldere took the step from the protective band project Balthazar, in which he had already gained valuable musical experience as co-vocalist and guitarist, to pursue a solo career and made a foray into the alternative industry world with his debut album "We Fucked A Flame Into Being".
Warhaus then released his third album, his last to date, in 2022.
During the creation of "Ha Ha Heartbreak", the singer is said to have fled to Palermo in Italy to process his own thoughts and emotions in songs after the end of a relationship. The result was a ten-song record in which Warhaus philosophizes about life and discusses interpersonal encounters in his usual flirtatious manner. Warhaus will be coming to Germany for a concert in Leipzig in June. The event will be presented by ByteFM.
