In the organizer's words:

Germany 2026, Documentary, 91 min, Rated 16

Director: Daniela Magnani Hüller · Original version with English subtitles

Fourteen years after the filmmaker survived an attempted femicide by a classmate as a teenager, she revisits the defining moments and people from that time. Using a fragmentary, self-reflective narrative style, she revisits her experiences and reconnects with the people who played an important role in her life during the three years surrounding the incident: a teacher, a former classmate, a doctor, a prosecutor, a police inspector, her half-sister, and a friend in Brazil. In these conversations, she seeks their memories of the situations at the time—and answers to the questions that have haunted her all these years. These are memories full of warmth and hope, but also of coldness and brutality. The journey takes her from Munich to Rio de Janeiro. “What Remains of Sensitivity” is a film about closeness, attentiveness, and individual responsibility. It believes that it is possible to continue living without bitterness despite having experienced violence—but with an appropriate and perhaps even necessary anger. Following the screening on September 9, there will be a discussion with Frauen für Frauen e.V. Leipzig.

Fourteen years after surviving an attempted femicide committed by a classmate, the filmmaker revisits the defining moments and people of that time. Through a fragmentary, self-reflective narrative style, she re-examines her experience and reconnects with individuals who played significant roles in her life during the three-year period surrounding the attack: a teacher, a former classmate, a doctor, a public prosecutor, a police detective, her half-sister, and a friend in Brazil. In these conversations, she seeks out their recollections of the events—and answers to the questions that have stayed with her all these years. The memories are filled with warmth and hope, yet also with coldness and brutality. Her journey takes her from Munich to Rio de Janeiro.
