Immanuel Kant, who was born on April 22, 1724, was long regarded as a dry, narrow-minded and quirky pedant. Today, we see another side of the Königsberg native: as an elegant, sociable, witty and thoroughly sensual philosopher.
To mark the start of the anniversary series of the Munich Adult Education Center and the 300th anniversary of Kant's birth, Kant biographer Manfred Geier will give us an insight into the philosopher's multi-faceted personality and introduce us to a key position in European thought.
Manfred Geier taught linguistics and literature at the universities of Marburg and Hanover and now lives as a freelance journalist in Hamburg. His biography "Kant's World" has been published by Rowohlt.

What can I know? What should I do? What can I hope for? What is man? 300 years after Immanuel Kant, his fundamental questions of philosophy are more relevant than ever. They lead us to critically question the supposed certainties of everyday life, open up new horizons for critical thinking and broaden our perspective on our practical dealings with one another. The MVHS series Die Umkehr des Denkens is dedicated to Kantian thought in all its breadth.
