»Was zählt ein Mensch« Ein Abend mit Carolin Emcke
In the organizer's words:
Host: Insa Wilke
In her new book (S. Fischer), Carolin Emcke explores what radical humanism means today. The Peace Prize laureate and former war correspondent has been traveling to Israel and Palestine for over 20 years. The Hamas terrorist attack on October 7, 2023, and the war in Gaza have intensified her questions. In conversations with people from Be’eri, Jenin, Tel Aviv, and Ramallah, she searches for the blind spots in our empathy: Whose suffering do we see—and whose do we not? What do history and human rights oblige us to do? An evening exploring the possibility of a universal “we”—in an era when even compassion has become partisan.
