In their successful true-crime podcast WEIRD CRIMES, host and author Visa Vie and comedienne Ines Anioli regularly talk about extremely grotesque criminal cases. In the summer of 2022, the two popular podcasters left their studio cubicle and brought new WEIRD CRIMES material live to the stage for the first time, and thus directly to the audience. The shows were extremely popular and sold out in no time - as did the 17,000 tickets for the subsequent live dates that spring.
And really, that was the end of 2023 in terms of WEIRD CRIMES performances for Visa Vie and Ines Anioli. The emphasis in the previous sentence is on "actually" - because as the absolute live highlight of 2023, the two will bring their podcast to the stage one more time: On December 16, the ultimate WEIRD CRIMES Christmas and year-end show 2023 will take place in Cologne's LANXESS arena, where more than 10,000 fans will be able to experience the two podcast makers live.
In 2020, private conversations during a car ride developed into not just a new true-crime podcast, but a whole new genre: WEIRD CRIMES. WEIRD CRIMES, a Studio Bummens original, features the weirdest true crime stories every fourteen days, 48 episodes at present. Whether chessboard murderers, cocaine cruises, dangerous Internet acquaintances, porn kings or exorcism in the hotel room: TrueCrime junkie Visa Vie deals intensively with a new, strange and highly bizarre criminal case before each episode - and tells comedy star Ines Anioli about it, who puts her finger directly into the wound of madness. A new podcast genre is born: WEIRD CRIMES!
Visa Vie is not only one of the most important women in the hip-hop scene in Germany, but also already has experience in the crime business thanks to her fictional story "Das allerletzte Interview", for which she received the German Podcast Award as best author and which is to be filmed in the near future.
Ines Anioli listens spellbound to Visa Vie's stories and comments on them with her own experiences from her life. She is new to the crime business, but all the more experienced in the podcast world. As a well-known comedienne, she brings just the right nuance of humor to each episode, creating an unparalleled true-crime experience that is unrivaled for absurdity.
Just how popular the format has become was also evident at the "Deutscher Podcast Preis 2023" awards ceremony in Berlin a few days ago: WEIRD CRIMES was the winner in the "Audience Award Lifestyle" category. The special thing about this category is that it is not a jury of experts that decides, but the podcast community, which had diligently voted for their favorites in a total of four categories.
