WERKRaum-Ausstellung + Vernissage // Thomas Judisch + Cindy Hennes (Hamburg) – Cats & Dogs

In the exhibition *Cats & Dogs*, two artistic approaches come together that appear contradictory at first glance and yet generate a shared tension precisely because of this contrast. Cindy Hennes works with reduction: lines as precise placements, as a rhythmic condensation of perception and experience, which create a clear and concentrated visual language. Thomas Judisch, on the other hand, operates more within the realm of the representational, the fragmentary, and the found object—elements that inscribe themselves into the space and allow for narrative allusions. Between these poles—order and chance, control and play—a dialogue emerges that does not resolve itself but remains deliberately open. The exhibition does not view “Cats & Dogs” as a pair of opposites, but rather as a productive
friction between two systems. Like cats and dogs, the works move around one another, observing, confronting, and ignoring each other at the same time.

Hamburg and Dresden function not only as exhibition venues but as two coordinates of an expanded space, connected by exchange and a long-standing artistic friendship. This interplay creates a field in which microstructures and fragments of everyday life mirror one another. Lines become traces; objects become signs. Cats & Dogs
is thus less a thematic exhibition than a state of being: a precisely arranged juxtaposition that does not smooth over differences but rather makes them visible.
