Slow Club Freiburg presents:
WICK BAMBIX + MS ROBERTA
WICK BAMBIX
is the founder of the Dutch punk band Bambix.
This power trio played concerts all over the world and toured Brazil five times, among other places, building up a loyal fan base.
Wick wrote all the songs, in which melodramatic melodies dominate. Bambix released numerous albums, one of them on Daemon Records, the label of Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls.
After the band ceased their activities, it became apparent that Wick still had a lot to say to the world and decided to record an acoustic album in which the punk attitude meets country and folk sounds and punk pop elements are incorporated.
The songs are sung with a raw, expressive voice and are about how the world should be, but never is.
After the first release "The Pariah's Promise", which received excellent reviews, many club concerts and festivals followed, in which former Bambix member Patrick joined in, making Wick Bambix a duo.
Soon the first full album was released on Rookie Records: "When Things Grow Teeth".
This extremely melodic album combines different styles: folk, country, but above all punk with attitude.
In live performances, without any excessive sound, Wick and Patrick concentrate on the essentials, which is quite a lot with Wick Bambix.
They start very reduced and always end with their fists raised.
Old songs, new songs, some Bambix hits and a few cover versions.
Always critical and aware: the world needs honesty.

MS ROBERTA
sings songs about herself and others, somewhere between American dustbowl, DIY punk and feminist anti-folk. Folk for people who don't really like folk -- maybe. Vocally powerful, with guitar, harmonica and storytelling, but without white boy tears.
But with a wink about sad men who have to go through hell every day, a reinterpretation of good old solidarity and the story of the woman who almost freed the world from Mussolini. Music to sing along to, cry along to or maybe just light something on fire.
