Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) lives a secluded life in the woods and continues her fight for the rights of oppressed animals. Stigmatized as the “Wicked Witch of the West,” she remains undeterred in her efforts to uncover the truth about the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum). Glinda (Ariana Grande), on the other hand, is regarded in the Emerald City as a shining symbol of goodness. At the behest of Madame Akaber (Michelle Yeoh), she makes public appearances to instill confidence in the inhabitants of Oz. Her upcoming wedding to Prince Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey) solidifies Glinda’s reputation, but her separation from Elphaba continues to weigh on her. Her attempt to broker a reconciliation between her former friend and the Wizard fails—the rift only deepens. As a result, Moq (Ethan Slater), Fiyero, and Elphaba’s sister Nessarose (Marissa Bode) also find themselves in an increasingly precarious situation. A girl from Kansas further upsets the balance. When an angry mob turns against Elphaba, a decision becomes inevitable. Only if Glinda and Elphaba meet one last time will there be a chance to influence the fate of Oz.
