In the organizer's words:
The year is 2258. James T. Kirk is a rebellious type. He is unaware that the circumstances of his birth were highly dramatic and far-reaching. Although Kirk is a bit of a good-for-nothing, Captain Pike—a friend of his father, who died a hero—encourages him to apply to the Federation’s Starfleet Academy. There, Kirk finds a friend in the doctor, Pille, and an enemy in the half-Vulcan Spock. Spock is rightly suspicious of Kirk, but when the Romulan Nero once again poses a grave threat, they must overcome all their prejudices and fight together against the impending disaster.
