"Wind, der uns heimträgt" - Lesung und Gespräch mit Hemley Boum

Hemley Boum was born in Douala (Cameroon) and now lives near Paris. She writes in French. Her novel *Wind, der uns heimträgt* is set in Cameroon and France. In it, she tells the story of a family spanning several generations and explores the consequences of the colonial era as well as the impact of industrialization on traditional ways of life in Cameroon.

The novel was awarded the Grand Prix Afrique in 2024 and was published in German by Peter Hammer Verlag in 2025.

Narrator Sarah Giese will read from the novel, and cultural studies scholar Joyce Noufélé will lead a conversation with Hemley Boum in French and German. 

The reading kicks off the “Starke Stimmen” series, which will feature four additional authors over the coming months. It will take place at a special venue: the restored Rüschhaus, which reopened just a few weeks ago.

From Münster Central Station, take bus line 5 toward “Hannaschweg” to the “Haus Rüschhaus” stop. From there, it’s about 400 meters to the Rüschhaus.
