LEIPZIG READS
"Wolfgang Kohlhaase. From Solo Sunny to Sommer vorm Balkon"
Reading and discussion with Bastienne Voss and Sylvester Groth
Berlin - Ecke Schönhauser, Solo Sunny, Die Stille nach dem Schuss, Sommer vorm Balkon - who hasn't seen these great films!
There is one man behind them all: Wolfgang Kohlhaase - one of the most important screenwriters in German film history. His own life is at least as exciting as his stories: born in 1931 in the tumultuous Weimar Republic, growing up during the Nazi era, four decades in the GDR and two in reunified Germany. Famous in both East and West.
In her personal approach to her life and work, Bastienne Voss recounts this eventful and moving life of a century through Kohlhaase's films, with many contemporary witnesses' voices and autobiographical documents. (Aufbau/Ch. Links, 2026)
"Does German film history and literature know of another author who could tell a story so pointedly and cleverly, so sparingly in his means and so perfectly even in his omissions? I can't think of one." Judith Schalansky
Admission: 10,- / 7,- EUR ǀ Tickets at the Box Office or in advance online: https: //rausgegangen.de/locations/haus-des-buches/
