Word for word - voices from the writing workshop
Over the past few months, Literally Peace 's monthly writing workshop has produced a wide variety of texts - personal, poetic, political. At this reading, participants share their thoughts, stories and fantasies with the audience. Mixed contributions will be presented: From moving everyday experiences to a fairy tale.
About Literally Peace
The writing workshop is a project by Literally Peace e. V., a diverse artists' collective that creates spaces for creative expression and transcultural exchange under the direction of author Nena Tramountani. Literally Peace was founded in 2017 - out of a shared passion for writing and the desire to build bridges between young people with and without refugee experience. What began as a German-Syrian collective of writers under the name "Literally Peace - A Transcultural Dialogue" quickly developed into a creative movement. Our first projects were blog posts in German, Arabic and English as well as readings accompanied by music, which brought people together and opened up new perspectives. This was soon followed by an art exhibition and growing collaborations that further shaped Literally Peace as a platform for artistic and literary expression. In 2019, the initiative became a registered association - an important step towards professionalization. Since then, Literally Peace has continued to develop: Today, we are a diverse association that is no longer tied to specific nations. Our door is open to everyone who is enthusiastic about art, literature and transcultural dialog. Nevertheless, our heart remains closely tied to the Arabic language and its diverse forms of expression.
Literally Peace is more than an association - we are a community that sees creativity as a unifying force and facilitates encounters between cultures. We are based in Stuttgart, but our committed members are represented throughout Germany, Syria and the Arabic-speaking world.
The reading takes place in cooperation with the Heinrich Böll Foundation Baden-Württemberg.
