Yefim Bronfman spielt Brahms 2. Klavierkonzert

Brahms, the undisputed master of understatement, announced his second piano concerto as "a few little piano pieces", describing the second movement as a "very small, delicate scherzo". In fact, the second piano concerto is one of the longest ever and, with its four movements and huge orchestration, is more like a symphony with obbligato piano. The "delicate Scherzo" even turns out to be a turbulent drama. And not "a few little piano pieces" - Brahms doesn't allow the soloist a breather and challenges him from the first to the last bar. A monumental task that perhaps no one is better suited to than YEFIM BRONFMAN. Thanks to his masterful technique and extraordinary lyrical talent, he is one of the most celebrated pianists of our time. While the path to the creation of Brahms' First Symphony was long and rocky, the composition of his Second went quickly and easily. Since its successful premiere in 1877, Brahms' "pastoral" Second Symphony has been considered his most popular symphonic work.
