In May 2026, we - Felix, Joey and Maren - hiked through the Harz Mountains together. Distance: 17.2 km. Walking time: 4h 05min. Break time: 2h 55min. First aid kits: 2. risk: low.
Topics of conversation: Computer games. Road trips. Bark beetles. Joey's hiking sandals. Sun protection. Gender politics on the mountain. Being a dropout. Outdoor equipment. Hiking songs. Germany as a legendary mountain wilderness. The persecution of witches.
Milestones: Ascent of the Landsmann (840m). Cooling our feet in the Steinernen Renne. On the way to the summit, we realize that we have taken a wrong turn and suddenly find ourselves on a steep slope. Walk back. Find the right path. Block the wrong branch with branches.
Snacks: bread, spread, bananas, muesli bars, apples, cookies, mustard.
In YONDER, we approach wilderness, solitude, adventure, the fantasy of a simple life and the longing of city dwellers for nature from different directions. What draws us out? Almost two months after our research hike in the Harz Mountains, we are showing YONDER as a work in progress at TNT Marburg - feedback welcome!
