Zukunft gestalten: Pläne für das MARKK
In the organizer's words:
Lecture by Lina Ghotmeh (architect), followed by a discussion with Barbara Plankensteiner (Director, MARKK) in English
As part of the Hamburg Architecture Summer, renowned architect Lina Ghotmeh, who is designing the museum’s modernization in collaboration with BIWERMAU Architects (Hamburg), will present the initial plans. Following the presentation, she will speak with Barbara Plankensteiner about the project’s key objectives and offer fascinating insights into the ongoing transformation process. The museum building was completed in 1912 by Albert Erbe in the late Art Nouveau style and is now undergoing a comprehensive modernization, which also includes a redesign of the permanent exhibition. The project is scheduled to be completed with the museum’s reopening at the end of 2031. The Hamburg Architecture Summer, which takes place every three years at various locations throughout the city, offers a significant platform for exploring architecture, urban development, and social change, and this year’s theme is “The Festival of Building Culture.”
