Creative grab bag

The small artus gallery in the Museum of Art and Cultural History is a little inconspicuous at first glance, but once you enter and talk to the owner Guido, you can't help but be amazed.

Because the artus gallery is a real grab bag, hiding three great ideas behind it. The first: The artus store. Here you can get publications about the exhibitions in the MKK. Postcards and posters as well as high-quality porcelain, scouted by Guido's mom, who has specialized in this and has an eye for the unusual.

You also get everything you need for drawing: Fountain pens and the like are in the showcase here and are specifically selected for drawing by Guido himself. Because Guido himself also loves to draw and knows his stuff. He knows what a draftsman's heart desires. And because he knows this so well, there is also a small inventor's workshop in the artus gallery and store. Guido himself has the talents of Daniel Düsentrieb and has developed, for example, the gift tickets.

Using a magnetic technique, you can present paper works, photos and even objects in a great way - and if you want, you can also exchange them at will and without any complications. The painting cards, which Guido makes from high-quality passpartout cardboard and has equipped with book corners, also look good on these.

Another invention for all free-lance draftsmen is the Artuskop. A drawing aid that reworks the old familiar grid method. It makes it easier to recognize a subject, focus on it, and then draw freely with the correct proportions. Also wonderful: the Skizerrello, a foldable sketching utensil for on the go, and the Sketchbook, where the book jacket doubles as the drawing pad. Still in development is the ergonomic drawing board that will make it easy for the artist to draw in the great outdoors. With integrated pen holders, color tray, water brush and magnets.

Why does Guido do all this? That's where the third great idea that makes artus gallery comes into play. Guido is the founder of the Urban Sketchers scene in Dortmund. The Urban Sketchers Dortmund are a small group of people who like to capture their environment in a drawn picture. Every Thursday they meet in Guido's small gallery and store and then buzz out to capture Dortmund and its hidden beauty in drawings. Some of the pictures Guido then also immediately on the Präsentablos in his gallery.
