Taking the Cologne subway to the nuclear shelter? Almost anything is possible on Museum Night! At the Kalk Post subway stop, a giant, silent witness to the Cold War era still slumbers, with thousands of people passing through it every day - it's the last of its kind. The Cold War Documentation Center (DOKK), a branch of the Cologne Fortress Museum, makes the fallout shelter accessible and tangible. Visitors pass through air-pressure doors and airlocks into the infirmary and the dressing room. In a unique and oppressive way, the underground nuclear bunker preserves a contemporary historical era.
