An anniversary for science, art and new perspectives

Since its foundation in 2006, the Junges Kolleg of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences, Humanities and the Arts has become a lively and influential part of the Academy. This is where outstanding young academics and artists come together to think and discuss beyond the boundaries of their disciplines and to develop new perspectives. The Junges Kolleg creates spaces that are rare in everyday academic life: Spaces for creativity and curiosity, for unusual questions and for open exchange between disciplines and generations. It is precisely this freedom and informal collaboration that make up the Kolleg's special spirit. Many former and current members look back on this time as a formative experience - both professionally and personally. The Junge Kolleg thus impressively demonstrates how inspiring and fruitful interdisciplinary support for young academics and artists can be.

On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, we would like to celebrate with you on July 3, 2026 and not only look back, but also look to the future. As part of the celebratory event, you can expect a welcome address from the State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Science, Gonca Türkeli-Dehnert, contributions on the beginnings of the Junges Kolleg and insights into projects by current members. Afterwards, we invite you to a garden party in the academy garden, which offers space for encounters, discussions and the interdisciplinary exchange that has always characterized the Junge Kolleg.
