Program

Works by Chevalier de Saint-George, Ignatius Sancho, Tania Leon, and Aitua Igeleke

The goal of Afroclassical is to restore to composers of the African diaspora the space, visibility, and recognition they deserve—and to establish them as an integral part of the early music scene. Aitua Igeleke has rearranged a diverse repertoire for the trio—ranging from chamber music to opera arias. On stage, she embodies figures such as Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-George, among others, weaving musical interpretation with biographical storytelling. Igeleke herself feels at home in many genres, from classical music to jazz and Afrobeat. Her own compositions also find a place in the Afroclassical Project.

In cooperation with the Rautenstrauch-Joest Museum and the Institut français Cologne.
