Alain Kniebs: „Irene Janetzky – ein Leben im Zeichen des belgischen Rundfunks“

Irene Janetzky—the name is likely unfamiliar to most people, and yet her story is worth telling. Born in Duisburg in 1914 and raised in Malmedy, she was a pioneer: As the first director of German-language programming at Belgian Radio, she began developing a program in 1945 for the linguistic minority in the eastern cantons—with conviction, sensitivity, and tireless dedication.

This biography tells the story of a woman who began as a radio announcer and went on to become a political bridge-builder in a male-dominated world. 

Alain Kniebs, bornin 1985, is the director of the German-language Belgian Radio (BRF). After studying journalism in Brussels, he began as an editor at BRF in Eupen before moving to the capital studio in Brussels.
