Safia al Bagdadi: „Unser Haus mit Rutsche“

Layla’s parents are the most glamorous couple in the world—or at least in Saarbrücken. Her Iraqi father is constantly coming up with new business ideas, while promising his astonished family a move to New York, a house with a slide into the Tigris, and a bright future. Her French mother comes from the most distinguished middle class and rebels against her parents’ home. Everything in this family is bound to go wrong, and yet it is often lighthearted and beautiful. Then, in 1991, the Gulf War breaks out, and Layla’s father becomes a stranger. A tragicomic family novel about life between cultures.

Safia Al Bagdadi, born in Saarbrücken in 1979, lives in Paris. She studied acting at the Vienna Conservatory and communication sciences in Munich; she is an actress and author.
