Alfons - Klasse!
In the organizer's words:
Alfons came, saw—and fell head over heels in love right away: More than three decades ago, Alfons and Germany fell in love with each other. And now? What has become of this love-match? Is the passion still burning? Or are Alfons and Germany just sitting together in front of “Tatort,” in their underwear on the sofa, with neither of them speaking to the other anymore? And anyway: What's happening to Germany? How are the German men and women doing? What's happening with social cohesion in the land of poets and retirees? Between East and West, rich and poor, young and not-so-young anymore? Is our democracy broken? And if so, is it covered under warranty, or will we end up having to pay for the repairs ourselves? Alfons is worried about his great love: Germany. And he sets out in search of answers. One realization quickly becomes clear: The days of “slipper democracy” are over! Each of us has to do something—but what?
Even in his eighth show, the cult reporter and “fluffy philosopher” succeeds in his inimitable way of packaging big topics into little anecdotes—warm-hearted, funny, and wonderfully far-sighted. “Klasse!” is a love letter to Germany—and a wake-up call in equal measure.
So if you’ve always wanted to know what the rule of law and a rest stop bathroom have in common, how you can learn from Asterix about collective bargaining in Germany, or what Alfons experiences as an overwhelmed substitute teacher in a troubled German classroom, then you’ve come to the right place. And if you simply need another evening that restores your faith in humanity, then you’re even more in the right place here.
“It’s all about humanity for him. As a postmodern clown and a master storyteller, he not only touches the audience’s hearts—in his new show, Alfons proves himself to be a champion of democracy, always with a sense of humor. That’s exactly what great cabaret is all about.”
