Ania Nowak has caused a stir across Europe with works about vulnerability and desire in both the visual arts and theater: the Polish artist based in Berlin has exhibited at the Baltic Triennial and the KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin, among others; since 2018, she has been touring with her stage performance FUTURE TONGUES, which premiered at the Nowy Teatr in Warsaw. In it, she combines the story of the Tower of Babel with the science fiction porn film "Café Flesh", which shows a post-apocalyptic order in which sex is staged in front of a passive audience. Eight years after the premiere of this piece, which imagined a future with radically altered human communication, Nowak is developing the work further at the invitation of the summer festival. In doing so, she poses the question of how we live together in the face of algorithmic systems, artificial intelligence and digital platforms that intervene deeply in interpersonal relationships. With FUTURE TONGUEXXX, Nowak creates a performance that opens up a fragile and resistant space in which language defies categorization and remains sensually contradictory. This new version is a plea against standardization and political fantasies of purity - and for the body and encounters as the last languages of the future.
