Anna Brüggemann: Von Trennungen und Kampfhunden (Lesung & Gespräch)

Reading and discussion with author and actress Anna Brüggemann.

Anna Brüggemann, born in 1981, grew up in South Africa, Stuttgart
and Regensburg. She first appeared in front of the camera in 1996 and has been writing screenplays since 2004. In 2014, she and her brother won theSilver Bearat the Berlinale, and her literary debut "Trennungsroman" was awarded the lit.cologne Debut Prize in 2021.

At the LITFILMS Festival, she will read from "Trennungsroman" and give first insights into her second novel "Wenn nachts die Kampfhunde spazieren gehen", which will be published at the end of October.

"Trennungsroman" deals with the following questions: What happens in the last thirty days of a relationship? When is the moment to leave? Can you decide for yourself? And can you determine anything at all in love?

Thomas and Eva, both in their early thirties, have been a couple for eight years. When Eva returns from a trip abroad, they could actually take the next step. Get married and start a family. But Thomas realizes he is no longer so sure. On the other hand, can it be right to leave someone who is as likeable and intelligent as Eva? Isn't sexual attraction overrated anyway? Eva can't interpret Thomas' erratic behavior and is always thinking up new ways to save their relationship. Thomas doesn't give up so easily either, and so they both struggle to save their vanishing love.
