Auf Klangsuche im Stadtteil - Ein kreativer Audio-Workshop

Every place has its own sound. But which sounds do we consciously notice in our everyday lives? Which sounds surprise us, tell stories, or let us experience our surroundings with fresh ears?

In this creative audio workshop, participants embark on a sound exploration through Bramfeld. Together, they discover how sounds influence our perception of places and how we can experience our surroundings in a new way through conscious listening.

After a brief introduction to the topics of sound, field recording, and using audio recorders, participants will collect sounds, ambient noises, and distinctive sounds from their surroundings. Through this playful process, they’ll learn how sound recordings are made, what’s important when listening mindfully, and how to capture interesting moments of sound.

The recorded material will be used to create a collaborative audio collage that creatively combines various auditory impressions of the neighborhood.

The workshop teaches the basics of audio technology, encourages creative listening, and invites participants to get to know Bramfeld from a new perspective. No prior knowledge is required.

About Matthias Schubert

Matthias Schubert is a composer, sound designer, and music producer specializing in theater, electronic music, and sound art. Since 2014, he has worked for theaters such as the Munich Volkstheater, the State Theaters of Meiningen and Nuremberg, and the Schauspiel Frankfurt. In Hamburg, he is a co-founder of “Remoto Records,” a record store and event collective that has been contributing to electronic club culture through events and workshops since 2021. He studied Digital Media with a focus on sound at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences and Time-Dependent Media at HAW Hamburg. His work combines audio and music production, field recording, soundscape research, musique concrète, and electronic sound synthesis.
