In often large-format paintings, Düsseldorf-based artist Edith Oellers creates realistic-looking tableaux of figures, landscapes and urban interiors that depict everyday scenes but at the same time open up an imaginary space.
The reality of the figures seems to be interwoven with dream and memory. A painting concept that repeatedly recalls Italian Renaissance painting, in which figures, landscape and architecture were also placed in a meaningful and magical context.
