Silke Leverkühne's large-format paintings are precise observations of landscapes, human interactions and architectural details captured on the surface. In doing so, she creates her own pictorial space in which the light is carried by colors that stand side by side and within each other on an equal footing. They suggest the perspective space rather than constructing it. The shimmering, light-filled, painterly contexts into which she brings her motifs together on the painting surface never want to be anything other than what they are: Colors on a surface with which she makes empathic contact with her pictorial themes.
