The book by Hartmut Botsmann (Edition AV) sheds light on the role of women in the
in the Spanish Civil War from a special perspective: the Balearic island of
Mallorca.
It shows how women became increasingly visible in republican Spain, organized themselves
organized and actively participated in the resistance against the fascist forces - on
the front and in the hinterland. At the same time, the book makes clear the brutal repression
to which many of them were subjected under the dictatorship of Francisco Franco.
