Ludwig van Beethoven: String Quartets op. 59/1 "Rasumowsky" & op. 130 with Grand Fugue op. 133

Beethoven's patron Andrei Rasumowsky thought the three quartets op. 59 were a joke - the pieces seemed unplayable. The Quatuor Ébène performs the versatile and imaginative first of them in the mighty Quartet op. 130. It stands out among the late works: five new movements and, on top of that, a futuristic fugue as a gigantic finale. There is no more spectacular way to end the residency!
