Reading & discussion as part of the event series "Zum 8. März" with author Heike Geißler and photographer Laura Bielau, moderated by Dr. Jule Schaffer, Head of the Photography Collection

In this year's "Zum 8. März" series, we are devoting ourselves to the photographer Barbara Köppe and her pictorial examination of women in artistic and industrial professions in the GDR. Köppe's works form the starting point for an exciting examination of the representation of work, gender roles and artistic forms of expression.

Author Heike Geißler and photographer Laura Bielau will present their own artistic perspectives on the subject of work. In a reading from their current books and a joint discussion, they will reflect on the meaning of (artistic) work, the role of women and the connection between photography and literature.

An evening that not only fascinates through images and words, but also encourages reflection on the interfaces between art, work and society.

The collections of the Kunstmuseum Moritzburg Halle (Saale) contain many exciting works by female artists, which are to be given greater attention with a new series of projects and events. To mark International Women's Day on March 8, a postcard dedicated to one of these women and designed by a female artist from Halle will be created every year from 2025. You can discover the postcard in our building and at other locations in the city.
