In 1987, photographer Konstanze Göbel began documenting the city of Halle (Saale) and its people in sensitive images. The client was the council of the district of Halle, who wanted to capture the meeting of new and old architecture - with a positive view of the new buildings and the upheaval in the city. The project was intended as a counterpoint to Helga Paris' photo series "Häuser und Gesichter. Halle 1983-85", which had triggered a heated debate in 1986. But Göbel's photographs also show a city full of contradictions in clear, often thought-provoking images.
The entire series of 50 photographs is being exhibited in Halle (Saale) for the first time. We cordially invite you to the opening of the exhibition at the Literaturhaus Halle.
