Your own body changes noticeably in childhood and adolescence - and so does your perception of your body. Feeling uncomfortable in your own body and a disturbed self-image can cause severe mental stress. We discuss: How are physical developments and mental health linked in childhood and adolescence? What role do widespread beauty standards play? How can young people develop a stable, positive relationship with their bodies? What role does gender play in one's own body image?
