Book Presentation: This Ain't Rock 'n' Roll: Pop Music, the Swastika and the Third Reich
In the organizer's words:
For over seven decades, generations of artists have forged disturbing links to the aesthetics, mass psychosis and ideology of National Socialism. Whether out of shock-seeking, recklessness or pure provocation, rock 'n' roll has cultivated these associations more than any other art form. This Ain't Rock 'n' Roll, the new book by bestselling author, journalist and former musician Daniel Rachel, explores why and how some of rock's most prominent figures have flirted with Nazi symbolism. Daniel Rachel presents the book in conversation with Pauline Black - singer of The Selecter, actress and author.
This event is part of the SEE THE SOUND Festival and is organized in cooperation with the Freedom Sounds Festival.
Following the book presentation, the film Pauline Black: A 2 Tone Story will be shown at the Odeon (within walking distance of the COMEDIA Theater). Tickets are available for €8 (book presentation only) or as a combined ticket with film screening for €12.
Afterwards, everyone is cordially invited to continue the evening at the after-show party - with special DJ sets by Pauline Black and Daniel Rachel, presented by Freedom Sounds Crew, at LOTTA, Kartäuserwall 12, 50678 Cologne, from 22:00.
