From June 22, 2026, the opinion of citizens in the Lindenthal district will be sought, as this is when the online dialog on the Urban Green Master Plan will start.

The Urban Green Master Plan serves to safeguard and further develop the existing green belts and green corridors and to complete Cologne's green infrastructure. The aim is to improve the urban climate and increase the quality of the green spaces for recreation and relaxation. The green-blue infrastructure ensures cooler temperatures, preserves biodiversity, promotes the natural water cycle and enhances the cityscape.

In the current second planning phase "Urban Green Program - Your contribution to a green Veedel", the individual city districts are being examined in detail. The opinions of local residents are crucial in identifying the potential of green spaces.

To this end, a two-stage public participation process is being carried out in each district. After Ehrenfeld and Kalk, Nippes and Mülheim, Chorweiler and Porz and most recently Rodenkirchen, it is now Lindenthal's turn.

From 22 June to 5 July 2026 , citizens will be able to submit their ideas for specific categories online via the City of Cologne's participation portal Masterplan Urban Green City Program Lindenthal.

The ideas will also be supplemented and further developed during a citizens' workshop at Kunsthalle Lindenthal, Aachener Str. 220, 50931 Cologne, on July 4, 2026. This will take place in two rounds.

First round: 10 am - 12 noon
Second round: 12 noon - 2 pm

The aim of the participation is to draw up an action plan for each district. The combined plans will ultimately be used to develop an overall plan for the city of Cologne. Two city districts will be worked on each year and the program should be completed by 2027.
