Der Ballsaal tanzt #1 _ Offenes Studio mit CocoonDance

The new series "Der Ballsaal tanzt" opens up a space for the audience that itself has a history of dancing, singing and celebrating: the historic ballroom in Bonn's Endenich district. Rafaële Giovanola and members of the ensemble share their artistic work and invite the audience to playfully explore together how body, voice and rhythm resonate with each other. The ballroom becomes an artistic laboratory, a resonating body, a place of encounter. A new format that creates closeness: to movement, to art and to a shared experience.

20.6. - Three workshops and a dance floor with Louis Thuriot, Rafaële Giovanola, Ada Sternberg

15.30-16.45 - Communication in movement

Louis Thuriot and Rafaële Giovanola invite people aged 10 to 80 to explore communication through movement. Based on CocoonDance's MoveApp, they create tasks consisting of running, stumbling, falling and rolling, in which small disturbances become impulses that the group takes up, passes on or transforms.

17.30-19.00 - Dancing & Singing

a polyphonic body field
Louis Thuriot and Rafaële Giovanola combine dancing and singing to create a shared resonance space. The voice becomes an organ that creates movement, communicates and builds bridges between people. Based on the CocoonDance piece Choreia - a PolyBallet, a field of breath, sound, rhythm and collective presence is created - open to everyone from 12 to 80 years of age.

19.15-20.30 - Urban Grooves

with Ada Sternberg. She leads us into the world of urban grooves. Music, rhythm and groove are combined with different qualities of movement and dynamics. The group learns steps, puts them together into a small combination and finds space to try out and create. Open to everyone, regardless of dance experience.

from 20:30 - Dance Floor

Ada Sternberg and friends open the dance floor. Everyone is invited to continue dancing to beats and live DJing, to groove and to keep moving together.

Rafaële Giovanola
Choreographer, artistic director of CocoonDance, has been developing collaborative, body-researching works for many years and has shaped the independent dance scene in Bonn and internationally. One focus of her work is the mediation of contemporary body practices in workshops and participatory projects.

Louis Thuriot
Dancer and choreographer, has danced with tanzmainz, the Ballet de Flandre and in independent projects in Belgium and France. In addition to his work with CocoonDance, he regularly travels internationally as a choreographer.

Ada Sternberg
Dancer, dance mediator and DJ from Berlin, works interdisciplinary with queerfeminist perspectives and creates open approaches to dance, music and community. She also works regularly with the Junior Company Bonn as part of CocoonDance projects.
