In the organizer's words:
Double evening with performance & spoken word program: "heim@terra_incognita" & "Deutschland. A Winter's Tale."
Two productions, two artistic approaches, one evening together: students from the 4th semester of Business & Drama at Alanus University will present a double evening between physical theater and literary language art at the Theater im Ballsaal Bonn on 16 June 2026. With the performance "heim@terra_incognita" and a spoken word program with Heinrich Heine's "Deutschland. A Winter's Tale", the students provide a direct insight into the artistic work of the drama department at Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences in Alfter near Bonn.
Performance "heim@terra_incognita"
heim@terra_incognita examines "home" as an open, unexplored space: a place of longing, a void, a memory, an illusion or a physical state. "Terra incognita" becomes a symbol of a search process in which new images, meanings and experiences are created. In the choreographic-theatrical approach, various body techniques, physical theater and contemporary dance merge into a network of movement, bodies and encounters. The result is a performative sculpture that leaves the audience room for their own associations.

Speech program "Heinrich Heine - Germany. A Winter's Tale"
In the winter of 1843, 46-year-old Heinrich Heine leaves his French exile, where he has been living for more than ten years, and sets off for Hamburg. He is driven by the desire to see his mother again. And the result is a travelogue in verse. In his epic poem "Deutschland. A Winter's Tale", the advocate of freedom, equality and fraternity uses mockery, irony and aggression to portray the staid character traits of his homeland and the small-minded conditions in the numerous small states. A clever satire, some of the basic features of which can be applied to today's Germany and Europe.
