A play based on the novel of the same name by Carsten Henn
One day, the rather lonely bookseller Carl Kollhoff meets the young Schascha, and before he knows it, the “book walker” realizes that he suddenly has a know-it-all companion who redefines the term “cheeky.” She injects his daily life with a burst of energy and turns all his routines upside down. But then fate strikes, starting with his dismissal from the bookstore. Schascha rallies all her allies—and there’s no cure for books and the imagination they spark…
The 2020 novel and its 2024 film adaptation were huge hits with audiences. Just as with the play “Wine Tasting for Beginners,” this heartwarming, touching play will be presented at the Forum during the pre-Christmas season—hopefully encouraging people not only to read but also to go to the theater!
