The Sound Merchant specializes in particularly melodious requests. His clientele is just as unusual as his little shop: The streetlamp finds the night too quiet—it longs for the noise of the city lit up like daylight. A circus troupe is searching for a lively mood-setter, and a little ghost just hasn’t found the right sound for the witching hour yet… No problem for the Sound Merchant!

A play with text and sound that heightens your awareness of what you hear and invites you to discover the world with attentive ears.

Once again this year, the Theater in der Meerwiese is participating as a venue in the NRW-wide SPIELARTEN festival for young audiences with a selection of productions. The festival guarantees exciting and inspiring theater experiences for everyone ages two and up. It showcases the diversity and high artistic quality of the contemporary independent theater scene in North Rhine-Westphalia. A total of six productions for daycare centers, schools, and families will be presented at the Meerwiese. Theater reveals worlds, tells stories, conveys emotions, and poses questions. The artists always keep young audiences at the center of their work. But adults shouldn’t be surprised if they find themselves captivated as well. Let yourself be surprised!
