Der Karneval in Rom – Operette von Johann Strauß (Sohn)
In the organizer's words:
“Bring on the champagne, a whole sea ofit,” goes the line in Johann Strauss’s second operetta,*The Carnival in Rome*(1873). And you can imagine that things get quite lively when a small group of artists and a flirtatious countess cross paths in Italy. It is Marie, who hails from an Alpine village, who teaches them what true love means. In what Strauss himself called a “polka opera,” the composer blends lively rhythms with song-like melodies and comedy with heartfelt moments. Who better to orchestrate this blend than Austrian conductor Patrick Hahn?
